The Huutokoski Tribute : This railway station is located in South Savo, in the east of central Finland. It was built in 1913 according to plans drawn by architect Thure Hellström. Until the middle of the sixties, the station was an important axis connecting Joensuu, Savonlinna and Varkaus to Pieksämäki and the rest of Finland. The station's coffee shop was closed down in 1963. In the decades to come, the station increasingly lost it's siginificance. After 90 years of service, the station became remote controlled in 2003, and it was closed down. We were the last people to live in that building (upper floor), from 2000 to 2001. Already after a few years of total unfunctionality, the station's building as well as it's surrounding are literally rottening down, despite being a heritage protected by the Finnish Museum Authority.
